Bandai Namco Group meddelte sidste tirsdag, at det har lanceret et bæredygtighedsprojekt “Gundam Universal Century Development Action.” Projektet sigter mod at løse problemer relateret til den menneskelige befolkning og jordens miljø ved at støtte nye ideer og teknologi.
Projektets første initiativ er “Gunpla Recycle Project”. Det er et fælles projekt mellem Bandai Namco Holdings, Bandai Spirits, Bandai Amusement og Bandai Logipal. Virksomhederne sigter mod at bruge avanceret kemisk genanvendelsesteknologi til at genbruge Gundam plastmodeller (også kendt som Gunpla) til ny kits. Omkring 190 faciliteter, der drives af Bandai Namco Amusement, startende med hver Namco-butik i Japan, installerede en genbrugskasse fra 1. april.
