Underholdnings-nyhedsmedierne Variety og Deadline rapporterer at Netflix vil producere og distribuere Legendarys Hollywood live-action-film adaption af Kōhei Horikoshi My Hero Academia manga. Joby Harold (Obi-Wan Kenobi, Army of the Dead, de kommende Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, Godzilla and the Titans) skriver manuskriptet.

Shinsuke Satō (live-action Bleach, Alice in Borderland, Kingdom, Death Note Light up the NEW world, Gantz, I am a Hero) instruerer filmen.

Alex Garcia og Jay Ashenfelter fører tilsyn med projektet for Legendary Entertainment, mens Ryōsuke Yoritomi, mangaens redaktør, vil føre tilsyn med projektet for Shueisha. Toho vil distribuere filmen i Japan.

Horikoshis oprindelige manga udgives herhjemme af forlaget Fahrenheit.
